Peachtree Ridge is one of only two teams in the highly competitive AAAAAA, Region-7 that will be led by a second year starter at quarterback this season. Of the eight teams in the region, only the Lions and the Mill Creek Hawks will have returning starters at signal caller. Daniel David will be returning for the Hawks, while Chance Thrasher returns to lead the Lions.
Thrasher led Peachtree Ridge to a 8-4 mark last season playing in a region that includes two-time defending AAAAAA champion Norcross, last year’s state runner-up North Gwinnett and defending region champion Collins Hill-ranked No. 8 in the state last season- and will be counted on to keep the Lions in the region title battle again this seaon. The right-hander is one of seven pro-style QBs in Georgia on the 247Sports QB Board, ranking fourth in the state and No.1 in Gwinnett County.
The 6-foot-3, 211-pound senior possesses a quick release with above average arm strength, reads defenses well, makes quick decisions, and is very accurate at long (35-45 yards) range. While being a pro-style QB, Thrasher can be dangerous with his feet. In addition to his physical tools, Thrasher has shown the mental toughness, dedication and discipline required to succeed at the next level.
